Cheating on the Climate Crisis is worse than denying it!

We are facing an avalanche of denial of the ongoing and rapidly escalating climate crisis, which can make it rather difficult to figure out how bad the situation really is. The United Nations does a lot of work in putting out the facts, but they tend to take a long time until their reports are approved and published, and they are not good at reaching the mass public. The denial experts are excellent in reaching the mass public, especially through social media and news channels that prefer political agendas over the simple facts.

If that isn’t bad enough, there is a rapidly growing movement at political and corporate level that has even worse impact on the understanding of people like you and me about the urgency of the climate crisis. Cheating! Cheating by greenwashing for example, that omnipresent phenomena of making things look much better from an environment perspective than they really are.

But greenwashing wasn’t doing enough to influence the public opinions, so the cheaters reached for a new tool. Outsourcing pollution and emissions! The United States appraises itself for clean air and water, and decades of reduced emissions where in reality the US simply outsourced the majority of its heavy industry and is the world’s largest consumer of single use plastics, which it exports to countries in Asia.

The United Kingdom is yet another example of Climate Crisis Cheating Champions. While preaching about its alleged leading role for climate controls during COP26, it also authorized further fossil fuel drilling in the North Sea. The largest fossil fuel drilling site in the entire UK! It is also not by coincidence that Britain’s consumption driven economy and society is the third largest consumer of single use plastics worldwide, which it conveniently also mainly exports after usage to Asian countries.

Europe has several LNG resources in for example The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, etc. Purification of LNG leads to carbon emissions, so the purification processes are mainly outsourced to counties like Algeria. And despite its wonderful slogans on climate and environment, member states of the European Union continue to export waste and especially single use plastic to Africa and Asia.

At a corporate level, there are profits to be made in the Climate Crisis Cheating processes. Asian and African countries still have lower wages, and in many cases less controls and regulations. This does not translate into ethical considerations about we do to our planet. It simply leads to higher profits. “The bottom line” is all that matters…

Trading Carbon Certificates has created the illusion that emissions are not bad as long as you offset them “somewhere else”. That illusion has become so strong that even consumers now start to believe that they can offset their pollution and emissions by “paying a fee”… That is how bad the influence of Climate Crisis Cheating Champions really is!

Earth Overshoot Day 2021 fell on July 29th. That means that we consumed more natural resources until July 29th than Earth can provide during the entire year! Unless we take drastic actions to protect our planet, and end the growing practice by Climate Crisis Cheating Champions, we will soon reach another irreversible tipping point towards destruction of our own natural ecosystem…!
